The International Four Freedoms Award was awarded to President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Ukrainian people. Prime Minister Rob Jetten delivered a speech during the ceremony to express his support and in recognition of their courageous struggle to protect freedom and democracy under exceptionally difficult circumstances, and presented president Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the International Four Freedoms Award. 

Prime Minister Rob Jetten: "Heroes are not born as heroes. They are ordinary people, without special powers or extraordinary talents. Their heroism lies in their ability to hold onto their humanity in an inhuman situation. The people of Ukraine have shown what this means for over four years now. April 16, I take great pleasure and pride in presenting the International Four Freedoms Award to the people of Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelenksyy."
