Tobias Rothenberger is the Youth Advisor to the Roosevelt Foundation, a role created by the Foundation for the sake of receiving more input about youth candidates from youth. To this end, the Youth Advisor builds a small team of students around themselves which finds and presents youth candidates to the Foundation; the rationale hereof is to diversify the perspectives heard in the selection process.
“I am a student at University College Roosevelt, with which the Roosevelt Foundation and the Four Freedoms Awards have close ties. I study politics, law, and rhetoric, and, having lived and grown up in international communities in ‘cities of peace’ like The Hague and Vienna, my life has been filled with discussions of the importance of human rights. Studying in the province that marks the European origin of the Roosevelts, in the city to which world leaders flock to celebrate that family’s legacy—a foundation (and world) that fights for justice—is compelling. Being involved in the process of selecting what candidates most embody those fateful words of that great president, FDR, is a great honour.
